The Underground Railroad in Kennett Square

Kennett Square, PA is known as the mushroom capital of the world, but less known is the history it has as an important part of the Underground Railroad. The small, diverse community attracted Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman and a long list of notable abolitionists. Agrarian Community, Nottingham Lots Photographic Exhibit

The Agrarian Community, Nottingham Lots Exhibit at the Cecil County Arts Council features a showcase of photography works by photojournalist Adam Jacono. This is a collaboration exhibit involving the Cecil County Arts Council, Historical Society of Cecil County, and Cecil Land Trust. Jacono has taken photographs of farmers from the Nottingham Lots where their families have farmed for hundreds of years right here in Cecil County. There will be about 10 farmers featured in the front gallery with a story about each of their farms accompanying their photograph. For more information about the Nottingham Lots please CLICK HERE.

This exhibit is a companion to the main “Art Responds” Art Exhibit, and the “Current Events” Open Show which will also be on display.

The Opening Reception is on March 4, 2022 from 5-8pm at the Cecil County Arts Council. There will be live music and refreshments. All are welcome!
